Wise Disk Cleaner 10.25 Build 775 With Product Key
Wise Disk Cleaner is a free, user-friendly, fast and easy to use application developed to free up disk space. Video tutorial available.
Using an SSD drive comes with two problems; small and expensive. Because of this, most people use an SSD drive to keep their operating system and most important programs on it. In my case, I am running a 250 GB drive with about 77 GB free so keeping free space is important. So, how to get the most free space is a problem that often needs to be tackled.
I have used CCleaner on most occasions, and as I have always said, it is safe and conservative, but sometimes you need more. You can use CCEnhancer, but now you are using a third party, sporadically updated program to get the most from CCleaner.
For many — myself included — CCleaner has been the go-to tool for freeing up drive space for years. And while it does the job well, it never hurts to be on the lookout for better programs. Take Wise Disk Cleaner — it not only does much of what CCleaner can do, but goes the extra mile in a lot of ways.
Along with purging your PC of crap, be they leftovers from patches, program installs or driver updates, Wise Disk Cleaner offers features CCleaner does not: an “Advanced Cleaner” that searches all your drives for temporary files, regardless of location; and a “Slimming System” tool that removes bloat from the operating system itself.
Following my last CCleaner run
Following my last CCleaner run, I was able to remove an additional 510 MB of junk. I have used it numerous times and while it is more aggressive than CCleaner, it also safely eliminates a lot of extra junk. You will want to spend a few minutes taking a look at what is checked, or unchecked by default and deciding if you are happy with those settings. That said, you can run without doing anything and still get results like you have not seen with CCleaner.
It lacks a registry cleaner, something we’re not fans of anyway, but it does include a disk defragmenter which is a nice little bonus since defragmenting your drive is a good idea after you left all those gaping holes on your drive. One issue here is that the program does not detect SSD drives and since you never need to defragment an SSD drive, you want to be sure you uncheck that drive. Defragmenting an SSD drive is known to cause more harm than good. CCleaner includes a registry cleaner but no defragmenting tools.
There’s also a built-in disk defragmenter, which appears to do the same job as the default Windows one, except it’s “faster” and shows the process in real-time.
I’ll be going with Wise for now, but I understand the appeal of CCleaner — it makes it hard to delete something important. A few of Wise’s options, while mostly safe, do have the potential to mess with your Windows install. Best advice: if you’re not sure what something does, leave it be.
Wondering where all your hard drive space has gone? There’s a good chance you can get at least some of it back. And Wise Disk Cleaner Free can help by scouring your system, looking for junk files that can be deleted.
Unlike most of the competition, the program doesn’t simply wipe the contents of predefined folders (recycle bin, temporary files, browser cache and so on). Instead, it searches your entire hard drive, looking for temporary or leftover file types.
Version 10.25 Build 775 full changelog)
The good news about this approach is that Wise Disk Cleaner Free is very thorough, and can uncover junk that other tools might miss. But the bad news is that it’s slower, and there are risks involved because identifying what can safely be deleted is very difficult. The program assumes that anything with a.CHK extension is a ScanDisk remnant that can be wiped, for instance, but a.CHK file can also be a database checkpoint that really shouldn’t be deleted.
Don’t let this put you off Wise Disk Cleaner Free altogether, though. In just one click you can tell it not to detect.CHK files, and you’ll be safe from accidental deletions. But even then, we’d recommend you check every file the program lists before you delete it, just to be sure you’re not erasing anything important.
Version 9.78.695 (full changelog):
Fixed an issue where the exclusion list could not be displayed properly. Improved the function of Disk Defrag.
CCleaner is basically a household name in the PC market. It’s free and very conservative and safe. It also has a conservative registry cleaner and startup manager. If you just want basic, safe drive cleaning, then your search is over. It also includes a conservative registry cleaner and a startup manager.
